Change values in Bulk

Post by Mark de Bokx »

Open question.

Assume I have all hosts in NagiosXI but later on I change my mind as to what values to usefor certain checks.

How whould I go about to change thee values in bulk without having to change them host by host?

You could change the parameters of the check command that all of those hosts are using, or otherwise modify the service templates. This depends on how you've set up your system though. If most of your host and service configs are being pulled from a few common templates, this would be the best way to make those changes.

By assigning templates, ideally when you first create them.

Thanks. I'll think about that. At this moment I have added everything using the wizards (I've edited the values used in the PHP code of the wizard to fit our needs)

Someone in our customer forum mentioned a 3rd party tool that he uses for mass changes. It's not something we've messed with, but it might be something for you to look at.
