mysql password change

Post by bhowardFSU »

I've just installed Nagios XI for the first time (v5.2.8). I used this tutorial as a guide for changing the initial mysql password.
https://library.nagios.com/library/prod ... redentials

However, it appears that there are several other places that this password may need to be changed including:
/usr/local/nagiosxi/var/xi-sys.cfg and
/usr/local/nagiosxi/scripts/restore_xi.sh

These are just the ones I've found by trial and error (scripts failed because the password was wrong).

Can someone provide a definitive list of files that need to be updated if the mysql password is changed?
Can the Tutorial be updated to include a complete list of changes needed?

Thanks, Breeze

Take a look at this document which is updated - https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... ios-XI.pdf

The one you linked to isn't as much up to date, as the one above is. It should answer all of your questions, though.

Thank you! The document you provided was very helpful. It sure would be nice if that other incomplete document was removed from the library or redirected to the complete one. :)

I've made a request internally for this to happen, so time will tell now!

Were you able to get things resolved?

EDIT: Where did you find this link, so that we know for reference and I can get that updated as well?

I think everything is resolved... I haven't done an upgrade, backup or restore yet, and that is where I started having problems last time due to the password not being properly set in all places.

I think I must have got to the old document from https://library.nagios.com/library/prod ... umentation (or possibly a google search that let me there).

Thanks!

If you could tell us how you came by that link, it would be super helpful!

Beyond that, is it ok if we lock this thread?

Go ahead and lock the thread. I already explained, I think I found the old document from: nagios.com -> Support & Service -> Documentation -> Nagios XI -> Browse Nagios XI tutorials -> Changing Initial VM Creds
