Hi,

I have Centos7 OS on KVM platform.

I try to install and configure nagiosxi by following the guide (Quick method):

Then at URL:
https://nagiosxi.abz-testing.de/

when pressing "Access NagiosXI" button I get an error:
"This site can’t be reached"

My question is how did you set up nagios to be acessed with a website domain name?
We only support local installations where you acess Nagios with the internal VM ip address or internal FQDN name.

I set the public visible domain name and that explains why it doesn't work for me.
However, in the above-mentioned guide, there is no one word about that.

@jankogaga, The installation guide goes over the basic installation on a clean CentOS or RHEL.
Since you're doing something custom it's hard to tell what's causing your problem without knowing more info about your network setup.
Usually, when you install nagios on a local VM/Server it gets assigned to a local ip adress. I'm not sure what steps you took from there to broadcast the local adress to a public domain name.
If you can somehow get to the Nagios GUI(using a different address?) try specifying the External URL under Admin menu -> System Settings(in the left column) -> External URL.

I managed to finish nagiosxi installation thru local IP address and tried to change "External URL" what you suggested (thru links browser).
However, when pressing the button "Update settings" new external URL is being lost.

@jankogaga, The field gets cleared out after you click on "Update Settings"? I've never used the Links browser so I'm not sure how it handles javascript, php scripts, and so on. Do you happen to have a firefox or google chrome installed?

I have installed firefox in Linux box and entered External URL, but still can't reach that public URL thru my PC browser.
A broadcast of public address is set by Nginx on KVM host and domain management (for abz-testing.de) is done thru bind9 service. I already set in the same way other applications and they work normally.
Do you want me to provide you with some log?

You might try repeating the actions (changing the external URL and saving) then sharing a copy of the resulting apache logs found in /var/log/httpd.

just to clear it up, with Firefox, I managed to change External URL, but public address URL doesn't work. Here is a related apache log, returned by grep command:

/var/log/httpd/error_log:AH00558: httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using nagiosxi.abz-testing.de. Set the 'ServerName' directive globally to suppress this message

Can you verify that port 80 and/or port 443 are up and listening on all interfaces with: netstat -na | egrep "443|80" ? It should return a couple lines similar to:

tcp 0 0 :::80 :::* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 :::443 :::* LISTEN

On your Linux client machine with Firefox, are you able to resolve the external hostname with a nslookup nagiosxi.abz-testing.de or ping nagiosxi.abz-testing.de?

I receive a 502 message when trying to access the site. Is that the same message you get? A 502 could mean a problem with the nginx being unable to communicate with the XI server. A tcpdump on the XI machine may shed some light on this:

yum -y install tcpdump
tcpdump -s 0 -i any

or if you want to save it to wireshark for easier review:

tcpdump -s 0 -i any -w output.pcap

This should be run just long enough to reproduce the problem and then ended with CTRL+C.
