I am new to Nagios administration and have a few questions I cannot seem to find the answer to:
1. If you have 4 servers that make up an application, meaning 2 application servers, 1 SQL server, 1 Broker .
a. I want to alert on this application if any one of those servers, services goes down. I want it to show that the acme application is in alarm due to one of its pieces is down. Is this possible?
I know hostgroups exists, but I am not sure if it is the correct approach.
Thank you in advance for any responses.
Application alerting
Re: Application alerting
BPI is probably the easiest way to handle serverless architectures in Nagios XI:

In which case, you would set your "group health" thresholds to require 100% health since any child service going down brings the whole serverless application down.
