Hi,
Is there a log I can check on why our monitoring engine is crashing?
We are using Nagios XI 5.6.3 on Centos7.
Monitoring Engine always going down
Re: Monitoring Engine always going down
You could start with /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log and see what happens right before it goes down. Another one would be /var/log/messages or /var/log/syslog, depending on your system.

Thanks for jumping in, Eric!
bramon, were you able to take a look at the log files Eric mentioned? You can also download your system profile and PM it to me, if you like. I'll be happy to take a look.

@eloyd
Is there a particular keyword or message that I should search? I don't have info on the date/time the monitoring engine goes time. I just find out that it is down when I login into our Nagios XI.
@mbellerue
I can't find a send file via PM.

Re: Monitoring Engine always going down
I have nothing specific to have you look for, but the startup message is
(or whatever your version is).
You could look for that in /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log and then see what comes before it.
Code: Select all
Nagios 4.4.3 starting...

When you click on a username (e.g. any member of the Nagios Tech Support team), you should see an option: "PM: Send private message". Click on the link, and attach the profile.zip. Thanks!I can't find a send file via PM.
