Port forwarding required for local server?

Post by AntalGrobinal »

If I want to set up a server exclusively for people living in my house, is it necessary to port forward, or can they simply log in using the localhost?

Give the server an address in the same range as your other servers.

If you are setting up a dedicated server for people living in your house, you can use the localhost IP address to connect to the server. However, if you want people outside of your house to connect to the server, you will need to forward the port on your router. You can also use a dynamic DNS service to give your server a domain name that people can use to connect to it. Drift Boss
