How can I install SNMP wizard on Nagios Core

Post by NagiosNewbis »

Hello;

I am configuring my Nagios Core to monitor tow Linux servers with SNMP, I have downloaded the linux_snmp.zip on my Nagios Core server but how can I install it? Because I want to use the check_snmp_storage.pl to run communication test with my Linux server.

thx in advance.

You cannot use wizards on Nagios Core, they can only be used in Nagios XI

You can use that plugin on Nagios Core, it can be found here

Configuring remote machines

Most checks on Core server are done with plugins

thanks! the document is helpful.

In order to monitor monitor more than one remote Linux server or windows server, do I need different windows.cfg and localhost.cfg in ....\objects folder or just placing all corresponding remote server on the same .cfg file.

current in the /usr/local/nagios/etc folder, I have localhost.cfg, windows.cfg, switch.cfg, etc.

If I have another linux server, do I need to create another two cfg files, such as linuxbox1.cfg, linuxbox2.cfg, also, windowsbox1.cfg, windowsbox2.cfg, switch1.cfg, switch2.cfg.

thx in advance.

These would be the configuration files which stay local to Nagios Core itself, the .cfg files you are speaking about should be the host config files, each host get's it's own configuration file, please see the following for a more in-depth explanation:
