Dear All,
I am new to nagios, though I find it a very useful monitoing tool. My question is: why is nagios core free and then XI is paid for? WHich one is more powerful, especially when you need to monitor remote stations connected through vpn?

I suggest you download both on separate servers and try them out, Nagios XI has a free 60 day trial, here are a few differences:
