Dear Team,

I am taking ms sql 2008 automation backup, i want to monitor via nagios, is my backup either success or failure and as well notification.

How are you backing up the db? A custom script? Is it scheduled?

Dear Team,

Db backup is schedule via ms sql managment studio, i have to just monitor via Nagios , is it successfull and failure backup.

Is the backup getting logged to the event log, or a separate file?

Yes, it is getting logged in event log and backup happening in seprate drive.

Have you tried using NSclient++ with their Event Log module?:

Another possibility would be this:

Though it can be difficult to configure properly.

I am looking for patch, what i have to install in MSSQL server to monitor that.
We need a bit more detail than this, we need to know if you are trying to patch MSSQL, if you are trying to monitor for new patches, or if you are trying to monitor when it has been patched.
