Upgrade from Nagios Core 3.2.3 to 3.5.0 Error messages
Hello To All,
I need your help, I upgraded our company existing Nagios Core DIY Free Version 3.2.3 to 3.5.0 using the Nagios Core Fedora Quickstart. I followed the instruction and when I finished I cannot see the host and other monitoring process. Below is what am I getting in the screen
It appears as though you do not have permission to view information for any of the hosts you requested...
If you believe this is an error, check the HTTP server authentication requirements for accessing this CGI
and check the authorization options in your CGI configuration file.
Please advise how to fix this problem, I would appreciate your help immediately as I am just new in this company and here I screwed up their monitoring program. They are buying the $1,295.00 for Business after they see the upgrade.
Please help, thank you.
Robert

Re: Upgrade from Nagios Core 3.2.3 to 3.5.0 Error messages
Since these seem to be the same or very similar issues I merged the threads. As for the issues, can you verify that you do have /usr/local/nagios/var/rw/nagios.cmd and it is owned by nagios.nagios or nagios.nagcmd? As you attempt to view pages, have you tried "tail -f /var/log/httpd/error_log" to see what errors are generated? Could you post some of the errors while running that command and opening a few nagios pages?
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.

Re: Upgrade from Nagios Core 3.2.3 to 3.5.0 Error messages
Are you on an ubuntu system, if so what version? Are you upgrading from the nagios3 package to a source based install? I realize it says fedora, but it looks like ubuntu from the web directory. Please also run "ll /usr/local/nagios/var/rw/nagios.cmd"

Hello Sir,
I did the command ll /usr/local/nagios/var/rw/nagios.cmd and there is no such file. I tried locating the file nagios.cmd and I cannot find it. Please advise what to do.

Re: Upgrade from Nagios Core 3.2.3 to 3.5.0 Error messages
Hello Spencer,
I got it working by stoping and starting the /etc/init.d/nagios. My only problem now is how come it is only seeing one server which is the local host. What happen to the rest like the linux servers, routers, switch, etc. Do i have to this manually? Where? Please advise.
Thank you very much.

Re: Upgrade from Nagios Core 3.2.3 to 3.5.0 Error messages
Are those hosts still visible in /usr/local/nagios/etc/"services/hosts"?
