[Nagios-users] Service checks not being done

Post by Guest »

Good day,

Sorry for the cross-post, but, no one's replied on the Nagios-users list
(other than a couple of users who told me they had similar problems). I
also have more information.

I note that this situation actually does continue after Nagios is running.
For example, my service page currently reports (it's about 13:25, by the
system clock):

Last Check Type: ACTIVE
Last Check Time: 2002-06-05T09:14:23
Status Data Age: 0d 4h 10m 56s
Next Scheduled Active Check: 2002-06-05T09:43:23

This is even though they're supposed to be checked every two minutes.

I can't locate anything in the documentation that would cause this behavior
(and I can't think of why this would be intentional), so I would hypothesize
that this is a bug.

This is the b2 version from CVS, BTW.

Could someone shed some light on this?

Subject: [Nagios-users] Service checks not being done

Good day,

I'm not sure this is a feature or a bug...

I have most of my service checks set to be done every two minutes (a total
of 154 checks right now) using "smart" scheduling. Things are working out
pretty well.

However, I note that when Nagios is shut down for a period of time and then
started again, it takes about a half hour for all of the service checks to
actually get done.

For example, let's say Nagios is shut down for some maintenance and then
later started. About 15 minutes later, looking at the "Service State
Information" for various services, I will see that about half of them are
being done every two minutes, and the other half aren't being done at all.
Their "Next Scheduled Active Check" would be about 13 minutes in the past,
comparing it against the clock on the machine.

If I wait long enough (again, about a half hour or so), all of the services
will start getting checked and will be checked every two minutes.

The load on the machine is extremely light. Nagios doesn't log anything
during this time.

Is there something that I need to set, or is this just a weird bug?

Thanks in advance,
