flakey T-1 connections

Post by jag7720 »

We have about 200 sites that are connected via a T1... and they can get flakey sometimes.

Each site has a single server that we monitor and one of the check is a simple "ping"

Sometimes the T1s will very briefly drop and cause our ping check to report... We understand the nature of our network and it is acceptable to us.

What we would like to know is, how can we configure Nagios to check the ping and if it fails... don't report on the first failure, instead start checking it more often and if it fails, say 5 more times (in the more often mode) then report?

Thanks

See the max_check_attempts and retry_interval settings for the service.
