Can't monitor a switch fault in nagios.cfg

Post by Stijn »

Hi,

I'm new to nagios, and yesterday I installed and configured nagios Core on an ubuntu machine like in the manual.
Now today I added a switch to monitor and in the manual there stands that I need to remove the "#" from the next line #cfg_file=/usr/local/nagios/etc/objects/switch.cfg, in the file vi /usr/local/nagios/etc/nagios.cfg. Ok I did that and added my switch like told in the manual.
Than I need to reload nagios and I get an error that nagios can't be restarted cuss the "#" is away from the next line.... . And when I set the "#" back on that line, than nagios reload without a problem. What do i do wrong?

Great! It sounds like you just had to do some editing to get it running.
