Please can I ask you to consider the following use case for
first_notification_delay?

We have a UPS which sends an SNMP trap to indicate input power has failed
and it goes on to battery. Usually it shortly thereafter sends another
trap to show input power is restored.

These traps are handled by a passive service check configured with
max_check_attempts=1 and with stalking options to make sure if there is a
sequence of alerts they are all logged. The on-battery trap is configured
to set the service state to Critical and the on-mains trap to set it to OK.

We want to send an SMS notification if the UPS goes on to battery, but only
if it has been on battery for more than, say, five minutes. I had hoped
that first_notification_delay would give me that possibility. Obviously as
this is a passive check and usually there is only one Critical check
serviceescalations and the like won't work so I'm ever hopeful that
first_notification_delay will one day do the job.

Please forgive me that I don't understand the programmatical issues well
enough to see if any of the proposed solutions so far will fit this use
case.

Many thanks in advance.

Jim
