GCC compiler for Fedora Installation

Post by tbeam »

Hello,

We are installing the Nagios Agent on AIX 5.3.

Fedora Core 6 Linux.

According to the install instructions below, we need a GCC compiler to be installed. Is the GCC compiler a permanent requirement? In other words, is it only needed for the install? And can we uninstall it afterwards? Thanks.

Prerequisites

During portions of the installation you'll need to have root access to your machine.

Make sure you've installed the following packages on your Fedora installation before continuing.

Apache
PHP
GCC compiler
GD development libraries

It should only be needed for the installation, and can be removed afterwards. Additionally, if you have multiple similar machines, you can probably compile once and just distribute the result.
