Alias wrong

Post by nprice »

I have defined an alias for a host (GPS Switch) but when i get notifcation emails its changed 1 letter in the alias (GPA Switch) its changes the "S" into an "A".
The only place I can find it splet wrong is in the retention.dat file.
I have tried stopping the nagios service deleting the retention.dat file shutting down the server, restating the server and then nagios. I check the newly made retention.dat and its back in the again misspelt.

It is correct in the .cfg file.

so where does nagios store it to get it wrong and how do i correct it

Try restarting Nagios as well as deleting the retention.dat file. The host alias is stored in a config file somewhere under the /<path>/<to>/nagios/etc directory.

i tried restating nagios its still in there.

Even if i change the alias completely it still picks up the old alias.

It must be stored elsewhere but i cant find where.

Even a complet shut down and restart of the server doesnt help
