Monitor tomcat ajp connections using Nagios

Post by thevishz »

Hi,

For our organization , we moved all tomcat instances to communicate with apache via AJP protocol. That is , we have Apache as the front end now for our tomcat servers. We have a Nagios Monitoring infrastructure in place and looking for means to monitor the ajp connectors to know tomcat status ( running or critical ) via nagios.

I have seen a check_ajp plugin for nagios written in ruby and requires ruby-gems , but our server which has nagios config and plugins has ruby but not ruby gems and other dependencies. I am on SLES 11 server and installing ruby gems and all of its dependencies is quite a pain..

Is there a better way to monitor ajp connections from nagios to know the tomcat status.

Please help. Have been googling around ot figured out any since 48 hours.

All your help is highly appreciated.

Thanks,
