Ubuntu & Nagios- Mail Delivery

Post by cterry195 »

Hello,
During my initial installation of Ubuntu 10.4 I didn't install the mail feature. Now I would like to have alerts emailed to individuals or a group when a host or service is down. I would like to use my Exchange system to relay the messages. Is there some simple steps to make this work?

thanks

This has more to do with your Ubuntu configuration than your Nagios configuration... I've never set up Nagios on Ubuntu, but I daresay sendmail is probably the default mail provider. I don't have my config handy but if it is indeed sendmail then you need to edit /etc/mail/sendmail.cf and look for the mail relay section and add the FQDN of your exchange server.
