Nagios Core device auto discovery

Post by AlexM1337 »

Hello everybody!

I have Nagios Core setup and working but entering all the network devices like switches, printers and hosts is a pain in the @$$ and i was wondering if anybody knows if they have a built in way of auto discovering devices?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Not so much in Core that I'm aware of, apart from home-grown solutions, but Nagios XI has an auto-discovery component. However Nagios XI is a commercial solution.

I think the home-grown solutions use nmap to auto-generate configs with shell scripting.

Thank you for your advice, unfortunately I do know all the ip address's of my devices I just don't want to manually enter all the data.

I was just hoping for a easy quick fix for this like some sort of add on.

Thank you.
