service notification followed by host notification

Hello,

I've been using NagiosQL for some time to allow other sysadmins to manage the nagios system. Some changes were made recently and now each service notification is followed by a host notification saying the host is "up". I would like to untie the host notification from the service notification, but don't see how I can do this. Does anyone know?
