Nagios Service Escalation Notifications

Post by rsync »

Hi everyone,

I am not sure if this has been raised already, but I am not quite sure how the Nagios service escalation works.

My current setup is I have three sets of escalations:

Notification 1 and 2 -> go to Administrators
Notification 3 and 4 -> go to Administrators AND Supervisor
Notification 5 to 0 (forever) -> go back to Administrators

The way I understand it, if the escalation has reached the third tier, critical/warning alerts will be sent to the Administrators, after they were sent to the Supervisor. Now, the recovery alerts will be sent to the current notification recipients, which is in this case, the Administrators, while the Supervisor will no longer receive the recovery alerts.

In my case, the Supervisor wants to receive notifications of the long-standing alerts, but wishes to receive only two, while maintaining the alerts to be received by the Administrators. Plus, he wants to receive the recovery alert, regardless if the alerts has reached the third tier.

Any ideas how I should setup the service escalation to achieve this?

TIA>
