SNMP collecting

Post by pierig »

Hello

My small business company has 3 customers connected via VPN in order to connect remotely with Remote Desktop from Windows.
This communication is unidirectional, so the customer are not able to send anything to us.

Is there a way that Nagios is monitoring our customers with each 2-3 PC's?
I imagined about a SIP Gateway at customer site which is collecting SNMP Alarm Traps and the central Nagios is collecting them every 5 minutes or something.

I googled hours to find a solution, but it looks impossible.
Thank you in advance

Best regards

There's a couple of ways you could go about this... if you want to send passive snmp information then configure a trap daemon in their DMZ with forwarding functionality (i.e. linux's snmptrapd). If you want to do active checks then you can use NRPE's (Linux or windows with NSClient++) command proxy functionality to forward checks to other hosts :)
