Monitoring all disk mounts?

Post by zZkXmUX »

Hello,

I am looking for suggestions on how to monitor all disk mounts for a dynamic environment. Occasionally admins will add a disk or two with a different drive letter, which of course will have critical data on it, and I need to ensure it is immediately(ish) monitored for available space.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry for not including that in my OP -- I'm talking about Linux here. Ubuntu 14.04 mostly, with some 16.04. Thanks again!

The short answer is to use something like this:

Or perhaps another plugin on the Nagios exchange.

The long answer is there are many ways to do this, but nothing to provide dynamic mount point monitoring exists by default. Here is some more info on how to write a plugin:

SMNP can also expose mounts so this can be setup as well.
