Nagios Core 4.1

Added two new VM servers to Nagios both Windows 2008 R2

I defined 45 services and of the 45 services two came up as NOT FOUND and the other as STOPPED

When I look on the servers all three services are started two of the services are set to automatic(delayed) the other is set to automatic

My defined services

Code: Select all

define service{
        use                     generic-service
        host_name               TGCS00
        service_description     UxSms
        check_command           check_nt!SERVICESTATE!-d SHOWALL -l UxSms
        }
define service{
        use                     generic-service
        host_name               TGCS006
        service_description     WinDefend
        check_command           check_nt!SERVICESTATE!-d SHOWALL -l WinDefend
        }
define service{
        use                     generic-service
        host_name               TGCS006
        service_description     wuauserv
        check_command           check_nt!SERVICESTATE!-d SHOWALL -l wuauserv
        }
The first two are NOT FOUND the WUAUSERV is STOPPED

From the servers

Code: Select all

Windows PowerShell
Copyright (C) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

PS C:\Windows\system32> get-service -name windef*

Status   Name               DisplayName
------   ----               -----------
Running  WinDefend          Windows Defender

PS C:\Windows\system32> get-service -name uxsms

Status   Name               DisplayName
------   ----               -----------
Running uxsms Desktop Window Manager Session Manager

PS C:\Windows\system32> get-service -name wuauserv

Status   Name               DisplayName
------   ----               -----------
Running   wuauserv                       Windows Update

PS C:\Windows\system32>

As you can see they are all running

Thoughts

update:

on the two services that are stopped. wuauserv they once in awhile go ok but then come back they also have a box next to them with a arrow that goes up and down and inside the box the color is green

Any chance you could upgrade to 4.2.4? It fixes some pretty important security holes.

Also, what version of the plugins are you running? You might also want to upgrade those.

These are not plugins they are just the standard checks

Planning to upgrade in the future need to resolve this first.

They still are not working

check_nt is a plugin.

Are you using NSClient? If so, what version? Can you post your nsclient.ini?

All my computers except for 2 run the same version of nsclient which is 4.1.73

My NSCLIENT.ini files for three computers the first two are the problem computers and the last one listed is a good working computer with same services defined.

I just restated one of the servers no change the same three services not working.

Also from the Nagios server I run this

root@tgcs017:/usr/local/nagios/etc/objects# /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/./check_nt -H 10.2.8.34 -v SERVICESTATE -d SHOWALL -l uxsms
CRITICAL - Socket timeout after 10 seconds

What's the output of nmap 10.2.8.34 -p 12489? You may need to open the port.

Sorry for the delay my system was down do to a power outage and had to do a lot of system maint.

Looks like there both up, try appending a -t 120 to the command, it may need longer to execute -

Code: Select all

root@tgcs017:/usr/local/nagios/etc/objects# /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/./check_nt -H 10.2.8.34 -v SERVICESTATE -d SHOWALL -l uxsms
CRITICAL - Socket timeout after 10 seconds
If that doesn't work, then please post your nsclient.log file from the Windows machine.
