check all network devices connected to a host?

Post by lout_tie »

Hello

I want to use a check_host_alive on all my hosts that I configurated. Nagios should notify me if the hosts are not reachable. It is possible somehow to monitor other network devices as well that is connected to the same vlan as my host? Of course you might say you can just all of them as hosts but I dont want that. I want to use 1 host that is connected to that vlan /network to check if other devices are alive as well.
It can be a seperate plugin. Thank you.

You would need to setup a host / servuce check for each device you're looking to monitor, there isn't a way to 'check all connected' at all.

No problem - let us know if you have any further questions!

There are some auto-discover features, and switch / router wizards built in with our enterprise product, Nagios XI - this might be something worth trialing. There is a 60 day trial available which would allow you time to test the features out.
