Sounds good - if it was just a simple application like apache or nginx running, then we could work around the rules. It's hard to say what all Plesk has done though since it integrates with a couple of the same functions Core does.
If you have another minimal / clean machine, I suspect you'll be able to work through the process without a hiccup.

Just checking in since we have not heard from you in a while. Did @rkennedy's post clear things up or has the issue otherwise been resolved?
