I've been looking around for something that would check between two clients. Maybe my search is poorly formed, but has anyone seen a method by which Nagios can ask a client if it can connect to another client? We have a master host that communicates with slaves VIA ssh and it would be helpful to know if the slave is receptive or not. It's probably right in front of my face but for some reason I can't find it. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks, R.

Sure, NRPE can do this, or really any agent. Here is the doc:

See 2b. Again the same principle applies to any agent.
