Distinguish between warning and critical notifications

There has been a patch available for Nagios Core 3.x to distinguish between warning and critical notifications.
Is this patch available for Nagios Core 4.x as well?

This was just a users patch, as far as I know this change was never approved and implemented in Nagios codebase.
