NSClient++

Post by donnyforbes »

I am new to Nagios and I have installed Winodows clients as well as Linux. What I have notice is looking at the web console I am seeing this follwoing for my windows servers.

C:\ Drive Space

This were some basic configurations just to see how it works. I have installed the client on all the servers and verified that they are running. Also, made sure I "Log On" is Local System Account and Allow service to interact with desktop is checked. The firewalls are all disabled we have a GPO setup for this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Run the following commands and show the output:

On the Windows machine (client)

Code: Select all

netstat -an | find "12489"
tasklist | find "nscp"
On the Nagios server

Code: Select all

/usr/local/nagios/libexec/check_nt -H <client ip> -s <password> -p 12489 -v CLIENTVERSION
nmap <client ip> -p 12489
ip a
Also, post the entire nsclient.ini file from the Windows box.

Here you go. I did the nmap to three different IP's.

It looks like the port 12489 is not open. Is there a config file where I can add the port to open?

Yes, it's the nsclient.ini file from the Windows machine that I asked for. :)

Sorry I did not see that. Here is the file now.

FIle location: C:\Program Files\NSClient++

# If you want to fill this file with all avalible options run the following command:
# nscp settings --generate --add-defaults --load-all
# If you want to activate a module and bring in all its options use:

This cannot be the entire config... Anyway, make sure you have the following lines in it:

Code: Select all

[/settings/NSClient/server]
; PORT NUMBER - Port to use for check_nt.
port = 12489
Save, exit, and restart the NSClient++ service on the Windows machine. Is 192.168.1.186 the IP of your Nagios server? You never showed us the output of "ip a" command.

One more thing - if you don't have all of the necessary modules enabled, this is still not going to work. From what you showed us, you have only "CheckWMI = 1"... I would recommend opening a CMD prompt on the Windows box, going to the "NSClient++" directory, and running the command below:

Code: Select all

nscp settings --generate --add-defaults --load-all
