soft state messages

Post by entmontech »

I have a routine that writes to the Nagios pipe. The mystery to me is that some of the messages end up in SOFT state, even though the template has a setting of 1 for the max_check_attempts. Can anyone explain to me how the message would end up SOFT?

Does the host/service have a larger max_check_attempts in their own definition (not the template)? Can you share the configs?

What is the command you are using to write to the pipe?
