Linux machine nrpe version mismatch

Post by amitgupta19 »

I have installed the nrpe plugin to monitor the linux machines on the nagios server.

Version of the nrpe plugin is 2.14 .

If i install the latest nrpe plugin 3.2.1 on the remote linux host, will it work or not?

do i need to install the same version of the nrpe plugin on the remote linux host?

Yes

No, the new version is backwards compatible. You only need to install the new version on both systems if you are going to use a feature that didn't exist in the old version ( like using custom certificates)
