Questions for nagios Core

Post by DOkuwa »

Please can anyone answer my questions
Does Nagios Core support API e.g for adding or deleting bulk devices
Also does Nagios Core support SNMP trap forwarding e,g when a host is down send a trap to another system( event handler)
Also can Nagios Core support up to 3000 or more devices

Nagios Core gets its configuration from a set of configuration files that follow the standards outlined at https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... tions.html. You can "easily" automate this by creating files to drop into the appropriate locations in the file system with the proper configuration information in them, or deleting those same files.

Once you've made a new file, restart/reload Nagios, and it's live.

There is no database in Nagios Core as there is in XI so there is no API to add/remove things other than automatically creating/deleting config files.

In addition to @eloyd answer, I would like to add that number of the supported devices would really depend on your servers hardware as well as what kind and how many services you're trying to run for each device.
And here's the link with more info on Nagios Core and SNMP integration. hhttps://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagioscore/docs/nagioscore/4/en/int-snmptrap.html
