how to monitor solaris and linux clients with nagios core

Post by Ahmed Saeed »

Hello All good day.

I've spent the last 2 weeks trying to monitor solaris and Linux servers with Nagios core with no luck at all.

unfortunately the guides are for nagios xi only rather than nagios core.

so am just seeking your support for what should I do from scratch on the server side and the client side so I can follow these steps.

N.B I tried to use the NRPE agent on solaris 11 but it wasn't supported on SPARC.

Thank you in advance...

What documentation were you using? Providing that helps us not send you materials you've already reviewed and tried.

The instructions for compiling NRPE v3 (and nagios-plugins) from source include specific steps for Solaris 10 and 11:
https://support.nagios.com/kb/article/n ... ml#Solaris

Have you tried that documentation? If so, can you share the specific steps in that documentation that aren't working as well as any error outputs?

Thanks @mcapra!

@Ahmed Saeed, NRPE is a great way to monitor Linux clients. Take a look at the documentation mcapra listed, and let us know if you have any more questions.

Also, the clarification of "what documentation have you tried using" is still valid. Let us know what you have tried doing.
