Without going into a long explanation as to why....I would like to know if it is possible to take config files for hosts,hostgroups, contacts, contactgroups, services, servicegroups, etc. that exist currently today on a Nagios XI server and copy them to a Nagios Core server and have them work ?

Secondly, I have been searching the web for any script examples that would work on Nagios Core that would allow me to setup contacts, hosts, hostgroups, etc. in bulk, but have had no luck in finding anything. I would think as long as Nagios Core has been around there would be something. Anyone have a script(s) they can share ?

Assuming the underlying Nagios Core versions are the same, and you update the destination Nagios Core's nagios.cfg file to include the Nagios XI sub-directories, yes this should work. It's not exactly "drag and drop", but the basic concept should work.
