ping Monitoring of POS mobile devices using Nagios core

Can somebody can confirm availability monitoring is feasible using Nagios core for following devices.
1. Store Tills( Android based Store POS Mobiles )
2. POS Devices

I'm sure it may be possible depending on what the device exposes, but you may need to write your own plugin
