Implementing Nagios Core

Post by lukedevon »

Hi ,

Can I find a good installation and configuration guide for nagios core (open source) in CentOS 7? also could you please tell me, is it possible us to easily migrate Nagios Core to Nagios XI?

Thank you
Luke

This official documentation covers installing Nagios Core from source:
https://support.nagios.com/kb/article/n ... ce-96.html

Many mainstream Linux flavors also offer packages for Nagios Core in their official repos, though many of them are still providing Nagios Core 3 where 4 is the latest version.

Though it doesn't spend much time covering how you "wire it up" once it's installed. For that bit, the "System Configuration" section of the knowledge base is a good place to start:
https://support.nagios.com/kb/category.php?id=149

For the fundamentals, I'd suggest the official Nagios Core documentation:
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... onfig.html
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... bject.html

And there are always these forums if some part of the docs aren't making sense, or you aren't sure how to get some desired state/behavior.

Thanks @mcapra!

As far as migrating from Core to XI we do have this doc available:
