Good afternoon, I write this message because I can not find a solution to the problem.
I have Nagios installed on an Ubuntu Server 16.04.5 server and every time I restart the server I have to manually start the service with the following command:
Service nagios start
I want to put the following command to automatically start each reboot:
sudo update-rc.d nagios defaults
But I get the following error:
insserv: script nagios is not an executable regular file, skipped!
Any solution ?
Nagios does not start automatically when reboot
Re: Nagios does not start automatically when reboot
The official documentation for installing on Ubuntu has a discrete step for configuring the service/daemon files:

What process did you use to install Nagios Core? If you followed the official documentation and are still having this problem, there's likely a bug report that needs to be made:

Thanks, @mcapra!
@UndMe, Please let us know whether you used the above-mentioned tutorial to install the Core so that I can try to replicate your issue in the lab.

Thank you very much for the answer, I installed it with another guide and something would be wrong.
I have reinstalled with the official guide of nagios that you have left me in the link and it works perfectly for me.
Thank you.
