Pinging a second IP address through source

Post by aresuli »

I need to check ping on a second IP address of my host (actually I have routers and Clustered servers with second IP), but I cannot ping them directly from the Nagios Server. Instead I can ping them within the host.

So how can I make possible to ping an IP address through the "ping-able" IP address of my host. Is this achievable by pinging through source?

Regards,
Andi.

If you have NCPA or NRPE installed on the ping-able host, you could run a script that essentially asks that host to ping the IP that core cannot reach directly.
