Any help would be great

Changed the email address in the contacts.cfg after restarting nagios, fails to receive notifications:

mail log just stops showing emails to the original email address

Since you changed the address and no longer receive notifications, you may have a typo in the cfg file. Can you upload or PM the configuration, contacts.cfg , file for us to review?

Also, the /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log would be helpful.
