is_volatile directive for active service

So in general shall we say like is_volatile and freshness will not work for active checks and they are meant for passive checks .

Well, they both work for active checks, but the use case for using freshness for active checks is almost none.

The case for using is_volatile with active checks is if you want each non-OK check

• the non-OK service state is logged
• contacts are notified about the problem (if that's what should be done). Note: Notification intervals are ignored for volatile services.
• the event handler for the service is run (if one has been defined)
