nagios newbie

Post by frustin »

Installed and compiled according to http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/nagi ... edora.html. Everything seems to be in order all the way to the end.

go to browser, it prompts for username and password. then in browser popup:

Download this file?
File Type: “Unknown”.

You have no application able to open “”. You can download it instead.

I've tried this both remotely and opening a browser on the machine itself.

I was able to get nagios3 to run by debian packages. I am running debian but it's very old (lenny with 2.6.25 kernel) and the nagios3 package is 2008. i was trying to get a nagiosgrapher plugin to work but it didnt so i thought i'd compile a newer version myself.

It sounds like you might be missing some packages on the server that the web server needs to understand what to do with the files. Run the compile commands and watch the wall of text closely, I'm willing to bet at some stage during the compile you will get an error or a warning telling you that a base package is missing.
