Actually, Nagios Core by itself does not use PHP, the interface is generated from CGI scripts.

OK cool. I am new to Nagios so still learning what PHP is used for. Looks like NagiosQL is using PHP. What version of NagiosQL is compatible with PHP 7.1.33 or higher? Also is there documentation on how to upgrade NagiosQL by itself?

On May 1, 2018, version 3.4.0 of NagiosQL was released. The latest version has been completely revised and contains some bugfixes and finally a complete support for Nagios Core 4.x. PHP 7.x is now fully supported as well.
