Status Map Access Issues

Hi,
I've just setup Nagios Core 4.4.5 on a fresh Ubuntu 18.04 server. I've configured my hosts, services, and service checks, but I can not get the map to work reliably.
From the side panel, clicking the link for the Map presents a blank page with a warning stating the "monitoring process may not be running." I receive the same results if I try to access it via the URL nagios.myserver.com/map.php.
The twist is if I'm looking at a host's status and select "Locate host on map", then the status map loads and I can manipulate it from there. However, sometimes it loads fine, and sometimes it loads no text.
I've tried searching for solutions on my own, but am at a loss. If this issue has been resolved elsewhere, please let me know. Otherwise, I'm open to suggestions.
