Hi Team,
We are planning to migrate to NagiosXI monitoring solution.
Need some basic understanding on the approach and cost effectiveness achieved using NagiosXI.
We have our data centers located in 3 different regions.
Our infra is hosted mainly on AWS Cloud
There are some on premise servers as well.
Queries:
1. What will be the ideal approach for installing NagiosXI -- on any of on-premise server or AWS instance ?
What will the pros and cons from the perspective of effective monitoring and less cost involved. Any comparison chart would be helpful
2. Are there any differences in the license procurement/Nagios support for nagios hosted on on-premise and AWS ?
3. Any proven or existing clients with NagiosXI hosted on AWS. Not looking at the client details , but just whether the solution design was feasible ?
Any suggestions on the above queries will be helpful and ease our process for migrating to Nagios.
Thanks in Advance.

Re: NagiosXI installed on on-premise vs AWS instance
Hi,
Thanks for considering Nagios XI.
Really a matter of preference here, we have many customers deploying Nagios XI in AWS. As far as licensing goes, it does not matter whether it's installed on-premise on in the cloud. Additionally, we allow for 3 separate activations: production, test, and backup to help manage your installation.

If you're interested in testing this out, I would encourage you to download the trial and sign up for access to a trial support plan to help you get this deployed successfully.

Re: NagiosXI installed on on-premise vs AWS instance
Thanks @benjaminsmith
For the point 1, we were actually concerned over the cost incurred towards hosting NagiosXI on AWS instance.
As there will be lot more I/O operations/ traffic/requests from Nagios server to other monitored hosts, will it be wise to use AWS ?
Given that we have instances in different regions and AWS Nagios instance charged over the number of I/O transactions?
If there are any comparative charts of NagiosXI installed on on-premise vs AWS instance will be of great help. Thanks
