Hello all,
So have had a long running issue here around our monitor of system swap usage. We'll have a number of Java applications running on a host, and with Linux's FS cache, we'll see applications being pushed into swap, when there is plenty of memory available when you consider the filesystem cache reserves.
So monitoring for swap usage alone, without considering current memory utilization, will trigger alerts that we can't fix without restarting that application that's been swapped out.
So my question is: Is there a way to have a check for both memory usage and swap usage together to be in warn or crit state before alerting?
Or, as i'm beginning to wonder is there a reason to monitor for this swap usage at all?
Possible to tie 2 remote service checks on a host together?
