I am using centos 5.11 and need to upgrade the os of nagios from 3.3.1 to 4.4.6 .
Will the upgraded nagios be compatible to the version of centos?
Will it work fine if i go ahead with the nagios upgradation?

Thank you in advance

This depends mostly on how Nagios Core and it's various plugins were installed. You'll probably need to rebuild an awful lot of Nagios Core plugins going from CentOS 5 to 7, primarily due to significant differences in the Perl and C dependencies.

Also, migrating from Nagios Core 3.x to 4.x is going to probably require you to make some changes to your Nagios configuration objects -- your services, hosts, contacts, etc.

I don't know of a simple "how to" guide for navigating that transition which applies unilaterally to all Nagios Core installations. This is a potentially large chunk of work. If you're not intimately familiar with the internals of both CentOS 7 and Nagios Core, you might consider seeking third party assistance:

Or simply purchasing Nagios XI with a support contract, and chatting with a sales rep about the feasibility of migrating your Nagios Core 3.x install to Nagios XI:
