Nagios network monitor

I started working on a personal project where my goal is to set up a raspberry pi that will track useful network data, like internet status, latency, bandwidth usage, etc. I am also planning on adding an LCD display so it'll function as an embedded device within a 3D printed case. I'm not sure how much of this is achievable in regards to the networking features, so I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Would pi-hole get the job done, or do I need something more heavy-duty like omegle shagle Nagios/NEMS?
