One Nagios server for multiple networks?

Post by reeaver »

Hi,

I have been using Nagios for few months for monitoring servers and devices in my local network.
From January we deploy our servers into two separated Data Centers.

I'm wondering if there is a way to allow Nagios to monitor servers in those Data Centers.
There will be no VPN between our HQ and those Data Centers.

I don't want to redirect many ports on firewall to allow Nagios to connect with each server.
Maybe there is a possibility to set up something like "Nagios light" server in each Data Center which will only gather data and send them to the Main Nagios.

Thanks in advance,

Luke

I would consider using something like Mod Gearman to accomplish this. Mod Gearman allows for "worker" machines to execute the active checks. The following doc is for Nagios Xi, but if you're using a source install the setup should be similar.
