gather short lists from servers via nagios

Need to collect a few short text lists from a few nagios-monitored servers and compare the lists.

Can anyone point me at a doc url on the above?

I have a method to do it, but it's not pure Nagios.

The point is just to gather remote list-based data from systems for verification.

If you've already got a script or program that does this, then you won't be too far away from creating a Nagios plugin that you can run as a service at defined intervals, and alert people when the plugin detects something wrong.

Read the Plugin Development Guidelines, which should give you the info you need.
