Permissions per Host Group

Post by JohnFLi »

Is it possible to have it so a user(s) can only have permissions to a certain Host Group(s)?

We have one department that should only have access to be able to acknowledge alerts, disable alerts etc. but for only one Host Group, not everything.

I have found the answer, sorta.

Instead of being able to limited people by host group..... It's by a per host, or per service deal.
  • 1. Add your user to nagios
    2. Add that user(s) to "authorized_for_system_information" in the CGI config page
    3. Add that user as a contact to the HOST or SERVICE
What this will do, is give that person the ability to whatever, for all items for that particular host. Or All hosts that use that particular service, but only for that service.

You are correct. You cannot add contacts/contactgroups to hostgroups. You can add them to host and services.
